It was the year of 1967, when Eduardo Ruiz also known as Don Pepe first arrived in Cozumel. He soon opened a four table restaurant in front of the main pier, which he managed with the help of his wife and three children. The restaurant took his name and philosophy, which read like this above the entrance: “Please sit down and relax, take off your shoes, enjoy the scenery, and ask me questions”.
Time went by and Pepe’s restaurant grew in size and name. It wasn‘t until Don Pepe’s daughter married, that he found in his son in law, which by chance happened to be named Pepe as well, the man to carry on with his tradition and philosophy. The new owner, Mr. Pepe Becerra, took the restaurant one step further in quality and service. He rented out what used to be an old lobster-packing plant and turned it into the restaurant that it is today.
It’s fine service, decor and food, as well as it’s excellent view of the harbour, have made it a prestigious landmark and the finest restaurant on the island, a must when it comes to dinning. The restaurant specializes in the freshest seafood and the finest cuts of beef, as well as flambeé specialities.
